My sister had been complaining of tummy pains for the past one year, frequent trips to Reddington pointed to Ulcer as the problem. They would give her pain killers and medication as the solution to the problem, ofcourse after charging for the trial and error diagnosis that has become so prevalent in this part of the world. If you don’t agree, just think back to how many times your mechanic, ac repair man, plumber etc have told you they know the solution to a problem and come back with “Oh by the time we replaced it, we found out it was the ball joint that was the issue” LOL and ofcourse they expect you to pay for their mistake.
My frustration today is with Reddington which claims to be one of the best hospitals in Nigeria…how could my sister have gone to this place for close to a year, spent hundreds of thousands of naira and they failed to find out that the real issue wasn’t ulcer but a case of Gallstones. It only just got worse a few days ago where she could not even drive herself to work that my dad suggested she be flown out of the country to identify the problem (in my mind, i thought…so you mean no hospital in this country is good enough to handle this? i refuse to believe that). Luckily, my mum as a last resort suggested a hospital in lekki to get a 3rd opinion.
Apparently, as soon as the doctor saw her, he simply said “pls go and do a scan first so we can accurately know what the problem is”, there was no guess work, no trial and error..the yankee doctor (ofcourse he had to be) simply followed due process. By the time the results came out, the problem had finally been identified with the immediate recommendation of surgery at a price of HMMMM, my fingers can’t even type it…but hey, LIFE over MONEY any day.
I just want to thank God because when i saw what they removed from her body, i still am in shock. It just makes me think of how many people die everyday in this country due to gross negligence. I mean people drop everyday and we blame one aunty in the village instead of blaming the real culprits “Reddington”
Just so you don’t think i’m picking on them, i heard of a guy who had a problem with his leg and went to this ‘super’ hospital called “Reddington”. They said he needed to do an operation ASAP, after doing it they told him the surgery was unsuccessful and his leg would have to be amputated. HAA
So, he thought he would get a second opinion from a hospital in dubai, by the time he got there, they said the initial problem didn’t need any surgery but because of what Reddington had done, the leg had become worse and would definitely need to be amputated. Asinnn WTH???
Dude isn’t gona have a leg because of what??? because someone thought they would play trial and error with his life?
We need these hospitals and any other institution or agency engaging in this negligent practise to pay for this, we cannot keep paying for trial and error prescriptions… WE CANNOT
I think there is still an outstanding balance on their reddington account, do you think they should pay it? Should they sue their asses instead???
My brother in law wants to, but….hmmm What do you think?
