According to Sahara Reporters, the Bayelsa state Police command have reportedly arrested four policemen who were supposed to be protecting the uncle and foster father of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Inengite Nitabai at the time of his abduction. The 72-year-old was reportedly kidnapped from his home in Otuoke on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. The policemen are currently being interrogated as part of investigations into the incident.
A family member, Igbogiamini Paul, had said that the policemen were not on duty when the kidnappers arrived Nitabai’s residence. Meanwhile, a family member who was abducted along with the elderly man, Samuel Oki, was found dead shortly after the incident. The kidnappers are yet to make contact with the victim’s family.
