The alleged abductor’s father Dahiru Bala has revealed in an interview with Vanguard, that no marriage took place between his son and Ese Oruru, as widely reported. He said he promptly reported the matter to the village head, when his son arrived the village in Kano, with the teenager. Mr. Bala however revealed that it was impossible for his son to marry Ese, because:
- Yunusa Yelllow was already engaged to another girl in Kano state.
- Any marriage between his son and Ese is illegal, and
- It is against the Islamic religion.
He also claimed that his son-Yunusa was a domestic help to the Oruru’s for 10 years.
