Police IG, Arase, Orders Shut Down Of PDP Headquarters Over Leadership Tussle

As a result of the fallout from the leadership tussle between Makarfi and Sheriff, IGP Arase has given a one week ultimatum to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to resolve all its lingering crisis. The nation’s police boss made this known in a statement he released through the police public relations officer (PPRO), Olabisi Kolawole.

Kolawole explained that IGP Arase arrived at the said decision, after holding a meeting with the major stakeholders of the PDP in the nation’s capital. Before the IGP gave the directive for the closure of the PDP headquarters, supporters of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff have on Friday, June 17, took over the gates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wadata Plaza secretariat in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja., Federal Capital Territory.

The statement released by the IGP reads:

“In a bid to finding a lasting solution to the protracted crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, convened a meeting with all stakeholders in his Abuja office on Friday and called for peace among the parties, particularly Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi,

 

“After exhaustive deliberations, in the meeting that was also attended by the Director-General of Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, each of the factions – Sen Ali Modu Sherif’s and Sen Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi’s-led factions agreed to nominate four representatives, each, for peace talks to arrive at a harmonized position within one week.

 

“The PDP Secretariat at Wadata House Plaza and Legacy House should be under lock and key pending the outcome of the resolution.”
