Jackie Chan Receives Oscar Life Time Achievement Award.

Veteran Hollywood actor Jackie Chan will be rewarded with a honorary Oscar for his extraordinary achievements in film. 62-year-old Chan will be honoured with a life time achievement Oscar Award for his works accord to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which made the announcement Thursday, September 1, 2016.Chan and other recipients will be receiving the honorary Oscar statuette recognising their lifetime contribution to film at a gala taking place in Los Angeles in November, 2016. The Hong Kong born actor started acting at the age of 8 and had written, acted and directed over 30 martial arts movies in his native town Hong Kong. 

He achieved international success with hits like Rumble in the Bronx, the Rush Hour franchise,  Karate Kid and the animation film Kung Fu Panda. The US film academy also voted to award three other people alongside Chan, editor Anne Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentary maker Frederick Wiseman.

The Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs described the four as “true pioneers and legends in their crafts”. Chan was rated as the second highest paid actor in the world by Forbes in August, 2016 with estimated earnings of $61 million in 2016 coming after former wrestler turned actor Dwayne Johnson popularly known as the Rock. Chan was followed by Indian actors Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar with $33 million and $31.5 million respectively.
