According to BeINSPORTS Turkey, Adebayor has signed an 18-month deal with the club. The 32-year-old managed just one goal for Palace last season after spending six months at Selhurst Park. Adebayor had been linked with a move to Turkish champions Besiktas, but some reports state the club wasn’t prepared to meet his demands.

He had wanted an annual salary of £3million (around £58,000-a-week) but Beskitas – currently top of the Turkish Super Lig – were only prepared to pay him £2million. That’s when Basaksehir stepped in.

The Istanbul club finished fourth in the Super Lig last year, their best ever finish, but have traditionally been a lower league side. The Togo striker featured for his country at the African Cup of Nations, but failed to qualify for the knockout stages, finishing bottom of Group C.
