The family of the victim have demanded speedy trial and prosecution of UNIPORT student, Ifeanyi Dike who escaped after he raped and killed 8-year-old Chikamso to serve as deterrent to other ritual killers. Mrs. Nmezuwuba, reportedly urged the police to cripple Dike to avoid another escape and swift trial, while the father, Dr. Ernest Nmezuwuba, demanded that all those involved in the killing of his daughter be brought to book without delay.
Meanwhile, the suspect was was arraigned and remanded in prison by a chief magistrate’s court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He is facing a count charge of murder, a capital offence. The charge sheet read:
“That you Ifeanyichukwu Maxwell Dike, on August 18, at 8, Messiah Close, Eliozu, Port Harcourt, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, did kill one Chikamso Mezuwuba, aged 8, by administering stupefying substance on her in order to obtain her sensory organs, which include tongue, ear, eyes, nipple, clitoris, nose, fingers with the use of knife and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.”
