A newly-wedded bride Shafa Muhammad 28, in Sokoto, has attacked her husband with a razor blade and injured him on the head in a bid to consummate their marriage. The incident which reportedly took place in the couple’s residence at Arkillar Liman area of Wamakko local government area of Sokoto happened on December 16, after the couple wedded three weeks ago. According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report, Shafa was allegedly forced to marry Umar Shehu. A family source who pleaded anonymity spoke on the cause of Shafa’s attack on her husband.
“The husband went into her room to consummate the marriage when she attacked him with a razor blade. He sustained injuries on the head as a result of the attack,’’
The spokesman of the Sokoto state police command, ASP Ibrahim Abarass, who confirmed the incident, said the husband had been treated and discharged from the hospital because his injuries were not life threatening. However, Abarass, noted that Shafa had been detained by the police and would be prosecuted after investigation.In summation, Abarass advised parents to always consider the wishes of their children and not make choice of marriage partner for them.
