A Presidency source told our correspondent on the condition of anonymity on Friday that Obasanjo’s position was not giving anybody in the government sleepless night.
He said events of the last few days also showed that many people were not taking the former President seriously.
The source added that further clarification made by Obasanjo on his statement on Thursday showed that his own administration could also not be absolved of blames as regards the problems facing the country.
He said, “If you have been observing what had been happening in the country in the last few days, you will see that the entire thing fell flat on his (Obasanjo’s) face.
“You will also see from his statement yesterday (Thursday) at the inauguration of the movement in Abeokuta that he clarified his position and you will notice that he was no longer accusing President Buhari directly.”
Obasanjo had in a special press statement titled, ‘The Way Out: A clarion call for coalition for Nigeria Movement,’ questioned President Muhammadu Buhari’s competence to rule Nigeria further, advising him to forget his second term bid.
