SOASA is the acronym for Speak Out Against Sexual Assault. It is estimated that over 70% of sexual assault victims/survivors have never told anyone about their assault because of the fear of being stigmatized or misconstrued.
This is the primary reason for the prevalence of sexual assault- the perpetrators believe that based on the experience they will get away with it because the victim will never tell anyone. We have counselled a countless number of rape victims in the course of our work, more than 90% of them admitted that I was the first person to hear about their experience having lived with it for many years. Most of them know the perpetrators
