Horrific CCTV footage shows a professional baseball player repeatedly hitting his girlfriend in a violent attack. Footage released by police shows Danry Vasquez attacking the woman on a staircase in Whataburger Field, home of the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball team.
In the disturbing video, the woman is knocked to the floor as the 24-year-old hits her and pulls her hair. Vasquez, an outfielder, was spared a jail sentence for the crime and the case against him was dismissed, District Attorney Mark Gonzalez told KRIS-TV. The Venezuelan national has been released by his current team, the Lancaster Barnstormers of Pennsylvania, since the footage emerged.
Vasquez was a player for the Corpus Christi Hooks at the time of the incident, which happened in August 2016. He was released by the Astros and suspended indefinitely by Major League Baseball when he was arrested.
