Discovery For Youths (D4Y) as a non-profit organization is committed to raising a new breed of young, purposeful, passionate, and patriotic leaders with an objective to connect with youths and reach them via all available relevant fora. So far, four successful Conferences have been held with amazing impacts and tangible impact.
Discovery For Youths maiden edition Conference saw Ade Bantu and Sam Klef as the major guest speakers. The Conference, though the very first was a crowd puller, remodeling the lives of attendees.
Subsequent D4Y Conferences have been nothing short of successful. The 3rd edition started a series tagged ‘Raising Champions’ Speakers included Kehinde Bankole, Dr. Adedokun, Nathaniel Bassey and more. Like the maiden edition, lives were transformed and we gathered about a thousand youths.
The 4th edition in 2017 continued the theme Raising Champions II. Almost two thousand youths across Nigeria were gathered to witness this transformation Programme. The Speakers and Panellists were highly phenomenal. The programme indeed challenged the minds of attendees and instantaneously led hundreds into chasing after a purposeful cause.
Speakers included the renowned UK-based Career Management expert and Educationists, Dr. Peter Ogudoro, former Mr. Nigeria, Emmanuel Ikubese, Former drug addict, Keji Hamilton, Renowned Nollywood actresses: Kehinde Bankole, Tina Mba, Ireti Osayemi, TV show host, tech trends: Chukwuma Fred Agbata, Author and convener of the programme, Sir Lawrence Onochie. The commissioner for youths and social development, Her excellency, Hon. (Mrs) Uzamat Yussuf Akinbile was duly represented and gave the keynote address.
Apart from the inspiring speakers and Panellists, one of our respected sponsors, Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) supported all the way and left no stone unturned. IKEDC, ably represented by Mr Ayeni, delivered a speech around the hope of the Nation. He debunked the belief that IKEDC is the greatest dream killer of our time. He stressed that IKEDC is positioned to build the youths of the country and this was genuinely displayed as they followed through with a special empowerment programme for some selected youths. Other supporters were Strategic Outcomes Limited, headed by the youth-centric MD, Mr Jenkins Alumona. Friesland, Nestle PLC, Excellence Hotel and some notable Media partners.
The May 28th Conference was followed up by series of free skills enterprising training which trained hundreds of youths. The training included Photography, Graphics design, Sound engineering, Make-up e.t.c.. Also other syndicate programs were held as well to train participants on capacity building. Areas like Personal branding, Agriculture Class and Google Workshop.
A follow up on the afoermentioned was the 1week long High Impact Youth Camp which is a platform designed to have an intentional close-knit mentoring and mental re-orientation of about 40 participants. We also introduced The Re-ignite Youth Convention which featured great speakers like Coscharis Maduka (Coscharis Motors) Sir Lawrence Onochie and a few others.
The Discovery For Youths initiative have come a long way, changing lives for good through every available means. The highly energetic team led by Mrs Francisca Ajakaiye comprises of a collective, passionate youths volunteering to assist fellow youths attain their best. The tenacity of the team was cultivated through the serial and intense mentorship of the Visioneer and Convener, Sir Lawrence Onochie who has been able to make visionary leaders and transformational leaders of each team members.
The D4Y effect is real and it is defining thousands. The testimonials and stories of Ayo Soyombo and Austin Egbowoto, now successful farmers in two different parts of the country, Ayo Adeoba, now a powerful voice on the music scene, Chuks Ijeoma and Godwin Earnest, transformed drug addicts, Ariyo Modupe a graduate and thriving entrepreneur and Damilola Phillips, who found her confidence and entrepreneurial spirit are just a few out of the lot. Moreover, a number of youths have been redirected to school a few under the D4Y Scholarship.
Discovery for Youths will do more, we are not stopping until the transformation is rippled around. The youths are the future, there is no better investment than to invest in them.
