There was confusion on Monday following the discovering of the head of an unidentified man without his body parts at Uzere, in the Isoko South area of Delta State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the head was discovered in a bush close to Uzere community junction by travellers, who drew the attention of residents to it in the early hours of Monday. It was gathered that residents, who thronged the scene, could not identify the deceased. Sources said police operatives from the Oleh division were later invited by community leaders to take the head to a morgue. Residents were reported to have lamented the killing, describing it as strange and a bad omen.
“After the discovery, people started calling their relatives and friends to know if they were safe,” a resident, who identified himself only as Ujiro, said.
Ujiro added that no one had been found missing in the community.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident, adding that the head was deposited in the Oleh Central Hospital morgue.
Aniamaka noted that the command had commenced investigation into the matter.
