Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha criticised the new Duchess of Sussex’s mother for ‘cashing in’ on an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Despite herself accepting money for ‘tell-all’ interviews, a book deal and photos of Meghan, Samantha hit out at Doria Ragland.
The Florida-based writer also dubbed Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan a ‘pasty old troll’. In repeated rants to the media, Samantha, 53 – who has multiple sclerosis – has portrayed Meghan as ‘narcissistic and selfish’ and claimed her half-sister had disowned her because of her disability. She wasn’t invited to Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding on Saturday in Windsor, but spent the week beforehand appearing in several TV interviews regarding her father Thomas Markle. During one appearance with GMB, Piers said she was a ‘vulture’ for writing a book calling her sibling a ‘pushy princess’.
When she was called an ‘attention seeker’ by someone on Twitter, Samantha replied: ‘Even Doria cashed in talking to Oprah and some of the first photos out there only she could have had.’ She went on to argue she had a right to freedom of speech, adding: ‘Excuse me but I’m an American citizen with freedom of speech and I don’t take cues. ‘We had a right to defend ourselves and speak out against nasty British media if no one likes it that’s just too bad.’ After a number of arguments with social media users, Ms Markle declared she was getting a massage, tweeting: ‘My haters are giving me a neck ache which is a really good excuse to get an Uber massage.’
On Saturday, after watching his ‘baby’ get married to Prince Harry on TV from his home in Mexico, Thomas Markle reportedly told TMZ: ‘Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything.’ It doesn’t appear Samantha got the memo.
