A man identified as Chukwuma Okpara has regained his freedom after spending over six years in a prison in Owerri, Imo state capital for a crime he did not commit. It was revealed that the man was wrongly accused, arrested and incarcerated at the state CID over a man’s death – a crime he emphatically denied.
He was later remanded in prison for murder.
Evangelist Christian Chukwuka who visited the prison last year and advocated improvement of inmates in the prison, met with the man and prayed for him.
The man who was charged to court for murder – was later discharged and acquitted this year after spending six years in prison.
