A large fire has broken out at a branch of Primark in Belfast. The top floor appeared to be engulfed in flames in the 233-year-old Banks Building in the city centre of the Northern Irish capital. The fire started at around 11am today and fire crews are expected to be on the scene throughout the rest of the day.
Part of the building was under renovation when the fire started but shoppers had to be evacuated from the rest of the building Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said in a statement at around 1.40pm today: ‘The incident at the Primark building is ongoing and likely to continue throughout the day.
14 Fire Appliances and 80 firefighters are currently at the scene.
The fire started at the roof and moved all the way down to the bottom of the building
