A former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, on Tuesday, declared his intention to contest the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, saying “I’m the face of the Middle Belt in this contest.”
While insisting that the time had come for the Middle Belt to govern Nigeria, Jang, who represents Plateau North in the National Assembly, stated that the country had remained divided under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He stated these while submitting his letter of intention for the Presidency to the Plateau State Chairman of the PDP and a former Minister of Sports, Chief Damishi Sango.
At the event, supporters of Jang from all the six geopolitical zones in the country declared their support for his ambition, while Muslims and Christians offered prayers for him to succeed.
