Kim Kardashian for once, was pleased to show off ‘attitude instead of body’ as the star of CR Fashion Book’s new Issue 13 fashion spread. Pictured in more clothes than she has in weeks, a prim Kim left the eye-watering bikinis and the scintillating beach shoots behind in favour of a ‘more modest’ way to dress her 24-inch waist.
‘This was my easiest shoot because I didn’t have to “suck it in,” she told Carine Roitfeld’s publication. ‘I was just myself and it was more about the attitude instead of showing off my body, which was different and refreshing. I think people don’t really see me dressing so modest.’ ‘What’s funny is that, though I obviously am very comfortable not being modest, my soul inside is kind of modest. My closest friends know that about me.’ With Gigi Hadid and Halima Aden on the cover, shot by Pieter Hugo, Kim is for once the focus of a high-fashion editorial spread. On her approach to photoshoots, Kim explained: ‘When I do a shoot, I love to see the photographer’s version of me. I’m not this diva who shows up on set and has all these demands of specific angles and glam and how I want to look.’
Kim is styled in a Vivienne Westwood dress with a full skirt that hides her famous behind. Nevertheless, a corseted waist serves to showcase her minimal 24-inch middle and – in stark contrast to her recent neon wardrobe choices – a daringly low neckline is the only glimpse of Kim’s skin. Shot in a corn field, the stripped back images have been completed with minimal make-up and quaint plaits in her raven hair. The issue is entirely dedicated to meaningful change by partnering with UNICEF USA for both covers to help fight the ongoing global refugee crisis.
