A man, Lekan Adediran, has stabbed his octogenarian father, Pa Lawrence, to death in Efon Alaye, in the Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
He was also said to have killed himself with the broken bottle he used to stab his father to death. The suspect’s elder brother, Ojo, who reported the case at the Efon Police Station, said his brother was mentally ill and that he committed the offence around 9.45pm on Monday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said the corpses of the two victims had been deposited in a morgue.
He said, “Lekan’s brother reported to the police in Efon that his brother killed their 80-year-old father with a broken bottle and also killed himself.
“Their corpses are presently in the morgue of the Efon General Hospital for autopsy.
“We are not relying on the deceased brother’s account alone; we are still going to ascertain the reason for the killing and the subsequent suicide option taken by Lekan,” the PPRO said.
