A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 35-year-old man in Benue state. According to a report, the girl’s father reported the case to the Police D Division Ankpa ward, Makurdi, the state capital and also informed the man’s church (Universal Reformed Christian Church).
According to philanthropist Ukan Kurugh who shared the sad news, the church officials spoke with the girl’s father and told him to go home that elders of the church will visit him, but since then, nothing has happened as the family awaits justice for the shameful act on their daughter.
In March, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corp in Benue state, was accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl consistently.
The FRSC official was caught naked in the car on top of the young girl. After the act was exposed to the girl’s father, he took the child to the hospital and had necessary tests run on her which confirmed that the child had been raped.
The father of the child victim reported the matter to the National Human Rights Commission but according to him, he was asked to write a formal complaint and he did, but no action was taken.
The father again took the matter to NAPTIP but according to him, he was rejected the first time. It was after a contact had been given to him that he went back and a formal statement was taken.
It was found out during the usual questions asked that the act had been going on since the child was 8 years old. Mr Ali was arrested, detained and was later released on bail.
