Mr Magaji, who holds a master’s degree in Enterprise Systems Management (SAP Integrated) from the university, hails from Gombe state and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology & Business Information Systems from Middlesex University, London.

“[Birmingham City University] has a central role in identifying suitable graduates, who have developed business ideas, and supporting them,” announced the university, adding that “Since 2013, BCU has supported more than 64 graduates that stayed in the UK to run their businesses. Many of which are still living in the UK after having successfully applied for the TIER 1 Entrepreneur Visa.”

BCU was impressed by Mr Magaji’s proposed start-up “Digital Green Intercontinental,” referred to as DGI.

The Nigerian beneficiary describes his start-up as one “set to be a novel digital commodity exchange platform that would revolutionize international agro exports.”

“I’m bringing farmers to foreign market that is robust, secure and profitable. This was inspired by growing demand for an alternative to the oil revenue, especially by the Nigerian government,” said the 28-year old entrepreneur.

“DGI is a means to further boost our GDP, and in the international circle it’s going to serve as reliable one-stop destination for high quality on-demand products.”

Since obtaining Cisco certification in India in 2011, Mr Magaji has been in the forefront of a growing bid to harmonise ICT technology and commercial agriculture.

His expertise cuts across various InfoTech spectrum, including Networks, Agri-Tech, Machine Learning, Strategic management, New Media, Systems Architecture, Enterprise Resource Planning and Project management.

He’s previously worked as founding member of Nigeria’s fast-growing agri-tech firm, Verdant Agri-Tech, where he served as Chief Operations Officer, following his stint as network administrator at Delhi, India-based Network Bulls.

He’s a 2018 alumnus of Commonwealth 100 Open Source Leadership by Common-Purpose UK.
