D’Tigress Coach, Otis Hughley Jr, has praised his team’s mental strength which subdued hard-fighting Argentina 70-75 in their final Group B encounter at the San Cristobal de la Laguna court at 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Tenerife Spain on Tuesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Nigeria became the first ever African team to win two games in a single FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup following wins over Turkey and Argentina.
“These players have got resolve and I have got no idea where they are digging that out from to win another close game,” Otis Hughley Jr told FIBA.com.
“They have no reference point at this kind of level to have taken it from. That was unbelievable and there is no coaching at this point with this team.
“These kids of mine just went out, played hard and made plays again when they needed to.”
D’Tigress will face Greece later today (Tuesday) in the quarter-final- qualifiers. A win for the Hughley Jr ladies will see them take on the USA in the quarter-finals on Friday.
