The police in Niger State have arrested three men who allegedly belong to a gang of motorcycle thieves terrorizing Ebbo community in the Lapai Local Government Area.
The suspects, Umar Idris, 21, Mohammed Gazuma, 24, and Emmnuel Titus, 24, all from Kpatsuwa village in the Abaji Area Council of Abuja were seen with a motorcycle suspected to be stolen and were subsequently intercepted by police operatives.
Northern City News gathered that the suspects used guns, charms and other weapons to attack their victims.
One of the suspects, Gazuma, told our correspondent that he used charms to dispossess victims of their motorcycles.
“The moment I stopped any of my victims with the charms on my palm, I will shake his hand and whatever I asked him to do, he will do it without question and I will take way the motorcycle,” he narrated.
Gazuma added that he assaulted only recalcitrant motorcyclist who refused to part with their motorcycle.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mohammad Abubakar, said the suspects confessed that they robbed one Abubakar Shuaibu of his motorcycle.
Abubakar said, “Further investigation led to the arrest of Titus from the same area who supplied them with arms to operate.”
The PPRO said the operatives recovered one motorcycle, one locally-made revolver pistol with one live ammunition, face mask and charm from the suspects.
