A 100-level student of Educational Management at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Efeosa Adagbonyin, is not starting her academic programme on a good note after missing a course in her first exams in the school for arguing with a technical worker.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Adagbonyin, after sitting for her first paper in the first semester exams on Saturday, waited for the second paper at the ICT centre when she was approached by the worker, who allegedly insulted her over her “borrowed” shoes.
the incident took a bad turn when the Edo State indigene did not take the alleged insult lightly, which led to Adagboyin being detained.
Adagbonyin’s friend, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the 23-year-old was detained at the institution’s security post.
She said, “The man called the school security to detain her and while they were taking her away, she told them that she had an exam at 12pm, but they did not listen to her.
“One Mr Adesina took her to the security unit and handed her over to a woman inside the office. She told the woman that she had a paper by 12pm; but the woman ordered that her legs be tied so she won’t run away.
“Later, the technical worker came around 1pm and told them at the security unit that he did not have an issue with Adagbonyin and they should let her go.
“Adagbonyin quickly rushed to the exam hall, but they had finished the paper.”
The source claimed that Adagbonyin, a single mother, who was invited to the security unit on Monday for interrogation after the case was posted on the social media by her friend, Ayobola Ojo, was blamed for the incident.
She noted that the 23-year-old was threatened with expulsion for sharing her ordeals on social media.
