A woman has been accused of knifing her boyfriend in the face when he refused to have sex with her. Katherine Tavarez, 27, left him covered in wounds and drenched in blood after the attack, police said. The victim, who has not been named, told officers: “She hit me with a knife. I can’t see.”
He claimed Tavarez flew into a rage when he repeatedly refused to get intimate with her at her home in Vero Beach, Florida.
She then allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the face.
Tavarez had apparently been drinking before “getting angry” at around 3.30am on Thursday.
She greeted police at her flat with “blood on her clothing and hands,” court files say.
There were also drops of blood on a large silver knife found in a search of the property, say the documents.
The unnamed man, whose age has not been disclosed, was treated for several facial cuts at Indian River Medical Centre.
Tavarez is being held in Indian River County Jail charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
She reportedly told police the man already had a scar on his face when he got home.
A bond on Tavarez’s release from prison has been set at $15,000 (11,500 GBP).
Tavarez is due in court at the end of October.
