We get into relationships, it’s all great and then something happens and we’re heartbroken. We might take a long time to heal or get into another one the next week, but what does heartbreak really teach us. Before you get into a new relationship it’s important to do a bit of evaluation to understand what went wrong and learn from it.

You can learn these lessons from your last heartbreak:

Someone can love you but not be right for you

Most people equate love with safety and assurance of happily ever after, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes we love people who truly love us back but just can’t love us right. Settling for less than you deserve in a relationship because you love each other should not be an option.

Everyone has weaknesses

Dealing with a broken heart helps you understand how vulnerable and imperfect you and your partner are. It opens your eyes to the reality of the relationship and how it affected you, what compromises you made and why you made them. You realize we’re all human and no one is perfect. So Mr. right doesn’t equal Mr. perfect and you’re just as open to hurt as the rest of the world.

You can do very well by yourself

Probably the most important lesson we can learn from heartbreak is self-sufficiency. You realize that people might not always be there and you have to learn to be enough for yourself. If you were the type of person who depended on your partner for completeness, it’ll teach you to own your happiness.

Pain builds strength

Another very important lesson we learn from a broken heart is that pain builds your strength and emotional stamina. You become stronger and learn to take your head along whenever your heart starts feeling things again.

These lessons are important because they help you become stronger and better. Which is why it is always important to do a self-evaluation whenever you get out of any relationship, especially a toxic one.
