Holders Akwa United crashed out of the Aiteo Federation Cup following a 4-2 penalty shoot-out defeat to Enugu Rangers in their quarter-final tie at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

The highly entertaining encounter ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Michael Ibe gave Akwa United the lead four minutes break from a superb free-kick.

Rangers’ captain Okey Odita levelled scores for his side 20 minutes from time.

The Flying Antelopes prevailed 4-2 in the ensuing shoot-out with goalkeeper FEMI Thomas emerging the hero after saving two of Akwa United’s kicks.

In another quater-final clash at the Agege Stadium, Lagos, Katsina United booked their passage into the last four following a 3-1 win against Kwara United.

Talented midfielder, Destiny Ashadi put Katsina United ahead with a sublime strike in the 21st minute following a clever assist by Martins Usule.

Tasiu Lawal doubled the Chanji Boys lead with a close range volley two minutes into first half stoppage time, while Segun Alebiosu reduced the deficit for Kwara United a minute later from the spot.

Usule got Katsina United’s third on the dot of 90 minutes after he was teed up Joshua Agboola.

Nasarawa United will face El-Kanemi Warriors in the third quater-final clash on Thursday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, while Enyimba and Kano Pillars will slug it out at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe in the final last eight tie.
