Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election.
He received the highest number of votes in the exercise which was held in Port Harcourt from Saturday to Sunday.
Atiku beat 11 other contestants after polling 1, 532 to emerge as the winner of the primary at the National Convention in Port Harcourt.
Other aspirants include Senate President Bukola Saraki polled 317 votes, immediate past Senate President, Senator David Mark 35 votes, Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo 111 votes, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal 693 votes.
The former governors of Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Jigawa and Plateau states- Ahmed Makarfi 74 votes, Rabiu Kwankwaso 158 votes, Attahiru Bafarawa 48 votes, Sule Lamido 96 votes, Jonah Jang 19 votes, former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki 65 votes, Datti Baba-Ahmed 5 votes.
Chairman of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta made the announcement on Sunday.
Atiku will battle with APC’s Presidential Candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates during the 2019 general elections.
