Police are on the manhunt for a businessman alleged to have shot and killed his wife on Monday morning while their children were asleep in the other room.
It was alleged that the man, identified as Abednico Sibusiso Nyembe from Soweto, South Africa, arrived at his house around 7am, went to his wife’s bedroom and shot her.
Captain Mpande Khoza of the Moroka Police said the children were woken up the by the gunshot.
“They went to their mother’s bedroom and found her on the floor. They then saw their father getting into the car, closing the door and reversing the car and leaving. They are very traumatised and we have not been able to get much from them,” he said.
Khoza said information at their disposal was that the couple had been having domestic issues for some time. Just last month, he said, police officers served the man with a protection order.
“We understand that the man has many houses and was living with a girlfriend in another house,” he said.
Khoza said they had been communicating with the police, saying he would be handing himself over.
However, when the hours went by and he was not coming, they decided to start look for him and ask the community to assist.
