Cardi B has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment after turning herself into police in connection with a fight that broke out in a strip club. The Bodak Yellow hitmaker is thought to have had her mug shot and fingerprints taken at the station. She was charged with the two misdemeanour offences after allegedly ordering an attack on 15 August on two bartenders at a New York strip club called Angels.
‘She [Cardi B] continues to threaten them and clearly thinks her celebrity status is going to get her out of this,’ Joe Tacopina, the attorney for the alleged victims, told TMZ.com. ‘But it doesn’t matter if her name is Cardi B or Carl B … if she commits violent assaults she will be brought to justice.’
The two bartenders are sisters – Jade and Baddie Gi – who claim that Cardi set her friends on the girls because she believed Jade had slept with Cardi’s fiance, Offset. Cardi was at the Queens club because Offset’s band Migos were performing there. Jade previously claimed that five people close to Cardi attacked her by ‘grabbing her hair, punching her and hitting her with an ashtray’; a source close to the rapper however claims that the attack was not premediated and ‘was triggered after someone threw a drink’.
Cardi and Offset are parents to two-month-old baby girl, Kulture.
