Fresh reports filtering in from Abuja has it that police officers are currently clashing with workers at the head office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The policemen have also escorted Usman Yusuf, NHIS executive secretary who was suspended last week, into his office.
Yusuf had kicked against his suspension by the NHIS governing board, saying he would resume work on Monday.
But the NHIS workers union had threatened to lock him out of office.
However, as early as about 7am on Monday, the worker’s locked the entrance gate, amid heavy security presence.
Yusuf arrived at 8:30am, gained entry into the premises with the aid of the policemen. He and was accompanied to his office.
Policemen on ground also teargassed the workers in the ensuing fracas.
