Chelsea ace Eden Hazard has been named the Premier League player of the month for September.
The Belgian international scored five times in just four matches, as Maurizio Sarri’s Blues remained unbeaten.
The 27-year-old’s quintet of strikes included a hat-trick in the 4-1 thrashing of Cardiff and an excellent strike in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard pipped Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wolves’ Willy Boly, Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette and Leicester’s James Maddison to the award.
Hazard, on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, has continued his rich vein of form with a goal and an assist in the win over
Southampton last weekend.
He is currently the Premier League’s top scorer, with seven goals.
Daniel Sturridge, whose stunning long-range effort wrecked Chelsea’s chances of a 100 per cent month, took the award for September’s best goal.
And Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was handed the manager of the month award, after they took 10 points from a possible 12, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
The Premier League newcomers claimed three wins and a draw and are now seventh in the table.
Victories over West Ham, Burnley and Southampton all came without conceding a goal, while a 1-1 draw at Manchester United underlined their growing confidence.
