Will Hughes says Isaac Success’ first Premier League goal since October 2016 is just reward for the tremendous hard work the Nigerian international has put into the season reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The 22-year-old tapped in from close range after a well-worked free-kick routine to cap off an outstanding performance in the 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

The goal was Success’ first in 28 months in the English Premier League.

Hughes, who also impressed as part of a fluid attacking contingent, says the entire Watford squad is pleased to see Success back among the goals and performing well.

“He (Success) deserves it massively and everyone is absolutely buzzing for him. He works hard and brings so much to the game.” Hughes told the Watford Observer.

“He does so much off the ball and is a quality player so deserves his goal.”

Hughes also adds that there’s a healthy competition in the Hornets attack with the quartet of Success, Troy Deeney, Andre Gray, and Stefano Okaka all vying for a starting berth in the team.

“There is a healthy competition in the squad and you would rather have three or four really good strikers that a pushing for a spot than one who plays every week.”

“All the lads know they have to be at it when they are starting or you are going to lose your spot.”

“There are players who aren’t playing who are top quality players. There is competition for places and everyone is playing their part.”

Success is expected to keep his place in Watford’s starting line-up when they take on Newcastle United at St James Park next Saturday.

The former Udinese and Granada star has been called up to the Nigerian squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Johannesburg on the 17th of November, and the Cranes of Uganda three days later at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.
