Arsenal legend, Robert Pires, has backed Nigeria winger, Alex Iwobi to be an indispensable star for the Gunners in future despite showing the glimpses of his potential for the club over the years.
Iwobi, 22, has struggled to maintain consistency since breaking into the first team at Arsenal in recent seasons.
The winger signed a new long term deal with the Gunners this summer following the arrival of new manager, Unai Emery.
This season, he has been in and out of the Arsenal team and his introduction in last Saturday’s 2-0 home win against Watford helped tilt the momentum in the Gunners’ favour.
“I know just one thing, I told him after the game (against Watford) he made the difference. He’s a great player, very fast,” Pires told Standard.co.uk.
“He finds good solutions on the field with his vision. He has good mentality and spirit. Of course, he’s young but he’s learning very quickly.
“Arsenal with Alex Iwobi and Alex Iwobi with Arsenal have a good future.”
Iwobi has scored one goal and bagged two assists in five Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season.
