Maatoug according to a report in Libya online news outletalwasat.ly, picked up an injury in training in Wednesday and failed to complete the session.
He will need to be further assessed on Friday by the doctors to ascertain his fitness level ahead of the crucial game.
The Mediterranean Knights who arrived in Uyo on Thursday will have their only training session in Nigeria on Friday ahead of the game .
Libya’s preparations for the game was thrown into confusion following the shocking resignation of Adel Amrouche as head coach of the side on Tuesday.
Amrouche claimed undue interference and failure of the Libyan FA to pay him his salary for six months as reason for his action.
Amrouche’s former assistant, Omar Al-Miryami will lead the team against the Super Eagles.
