A man who was involved in a fight with staff in a chicken shop, which resulted in one man suffering a broken jaw, has been jailed.
Manaf Alahassan, 27, was found guilty of assault by beating, and possession of an offensive weapon following a trial at Croydon Crown Court in London which concluded on Friday, 12 October. He was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment.
The charges relate to an incident at a fast food shop in Croydon on 12 October 2017, where a staff member was assaulted.
Police were called just before 17:00hrs to the chicken shop on Church Street to reports of a disturbance.
Officers attended and were informed by members of staff that two men had entered the shop; they became aggressive over the length of time it took for the food they ordered to be ready.
This resulted in one staff member, a 21-year-old man, being punched in the face and assaulted.
Alahassan threw a salt shaker at the victim during the altercation. Alahassan was in possession of a knife and showed it to staff before both men walked out and left the scene.
Mobile phone footage of the incident was captured by a member of the public, and helped to match the clothing worn by the attackers with the clothing the arrested men were wearing.
The victim was taken to a south London hospital by the London Ambulance Service with a broken jaw, and facial injuries.
The two suspects were arrested a short time later in The Queens Gardens.
