Mikel Scores in Tianjin TEDA Home Defeat To Shanghai Shenhua

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi scored his second Chinese Super League goal of the season on Sunday in Tianjin TEDA’s 3-2 loss at home to Shanghai Shenhua who were without the recuperating Obafemi Martins, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The goal ended Mikel’s 12 game goal drought in the CSL for Tianjin TEDA.

Andres Moreno scored a delightful header to give Shanghai Shenhua the lead in the 14th minute but Mikel drew Tianjin TEDA level in the 22nd minute with a simple tap in from close range.

Mikel last scored a goal for Tianjin TEDA on the 14th of April 2018 in his side’s 2-1 win over Guangzhou R&F in a CSL game.

Frank Acheampong scored from the penalty spot in the 30th minute to hand Tianjin TEDA a 2-1 lead.

Acheampong had a chance to make it 3-1 from the spot but his kick was saved by Shanghai Shenhua goalkeeper, Sun Li.

Jianrong Zhu scored an equaliser for Shanghai Shenhua a minute before half time.

Zhu scored his second goal of the game four minutes from time to hand Shanghai Shenhua a 3-2 win.

Tianjin TEDA are now without a win in their last nine games. They occupy 14th place with 36 points from 27 CSL games.
