Al Nassr forward Ahmed Musa admits the Super Eagle will miss captain John Obi Mikel’s positive influence on the team, but he is banking on the wealth of experience of his other teammates to beat Libya in their Saturday’s 2019 AFCON qualifying match in Uyo, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Mikel has not featured for the Super Eagles since their shock first round exit of the team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but Musa believes the team can pull through with hard work in his absence.
“The last games we played, we missed the captain, but we played very well. We now have a full complement of the team players who missed out the last time out,” Musa said during Super Eagles’ press conference on Thursday.
“Ekong is back and other players who missed out on the last game are back so we have a good team to beat Libya.
“Since we won the AFCON, we have not qualified and that’s the motivation. I know it’s a herculean task for us. We will win the first game.
Musa will also add that the team is not under any pressure to win.
“These are the kind of games I love to play – tough games, so we are confident.”
