A governor and his two aides will remain in custody for several more days after the High Court set their bail hearing for this Friday.
Report has it that the Migori Governor Okoth Obado, was supposed to know whether he will be released on bail today after spending two weeks in prison over alleged mother of his lover. The bail hearing was reportedly shifted to this Friday.
Obado, who was charged with the murder of Rongo University student, Sharon Otieno, is expected to launch a fresh attempt at the High Court to be freed on bail. The governor denied the charge.
The High Court has allowed the State to merge their murder cases over the killing of Sharon Otieno.
The suspects – Mr Obado, his personal assistant Michael Juma Oyamo and county assembly clerk Casper Obiero – pleaded to the charges again at the Milimani Law Courts.
The three have been charged with two counts of murder, that of killing Ms Otieno and her unborn child.
Sharon Otieno, who was seven months pregnant, was a second year Medical Records and Information student at Rongo University in Kenya.
Sharon was abducted together with a journalist last month after having waited several hours to meet Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo.
She was kidnapped and was later found murdered, her stomach disembowelled and the 7-month foetus oozing out.
