A woman, Eunice Ogbuwuo has told Oja Oba/ Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, she’s no longer interested in her marriage to her husband, Reuben Ogbuwuo.

Eunice in her evidence accused her husband of violence and denial of her conjugal right.

The plaintiff further appealed to the court to grant her custody of their three children in order that she might take good care of them.

Reuben agreed to divorce but refused that the plaintiff be in charge of their children.

“My lord, I have come to court so as to be free from my husband’s harassment. The best way he proved he was the head of the home was to beat me. He was in the habit of beating me over trivial issues and leaving wounds on me. He didn’t stop beating me even at periods I was pregnant with our children.

“He constantly denied me sex and would always humiliate me when I initiate it.

“He never ceased to accuse me of infidelity and would always embarrass me before our children and other family members.

“My lord, he deliberately neglected me. He failed to live up to his responsibility at home because he was always starving me and our children. He left the responsibility of meeting the home needs to me.

“He has also denied our children formal education. They stay back at home while their peers dress and go to school every morning.

“I moved out of his home when he almost frustrated me and was about taking my life, “Eunice stated.

“My lord, I’m also in support of divorce. I’m no more interested staying married to a harlot. But I pray this honourable court not to handover our children to her so as not to take after her. She’s not a decent human being and she has nothing to offer them.

“My lord, I caught her with a man in our room. I’ve heard of her escapades through our neighbours but she always denied them. On that faithful day, she didn’t know I would be returning home early. I opened the door to our room and alas, there she was with this strange man. I didn’t hesitate to send her packing.

“I’m declaring before the court that the first child in our marriage is not mine. She was carrying another man’s one month pregnancy when we got married. We decided to keep it a secret between us. But it’s better I let the cat out of the bag now that she has come to court, “he said.

Having listened to both parties, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade stated that more evidence would be needed.

Ruling, he adjourned the case and ordered both parties to return to court with their children.
