New England Patriots had actually begun as the final franchise of the American Football League back in November of 1959. Next winter, there was crowdsourcing to find a good official name for this new Boston football team. By February 1960, the name was chosen as “Boston Patriots,” in which the ‘Patriots’ referred to those colonists who rebelled against British control during the time of American Revolution.

Many of the stadiums served as home for the Patriots in AFL as Nickerson Field, Fenway Park, Harvard Stadium, and Alumni Stadium in and around Boston. Patriots had many stars throughout the times, and some of the well-known include defensive tackler Jim Lee, Hunt and Houston Antwine, flanker-placekicker Gino, quarterback Vito “Babe” Parilli, “The Duke” Cappelletti, etc.

Parilli, Hunt, and Cappelletti played all seasons of AFL and Hunt, and Cappelletti spend all 10 years of their career with the Cappelletti also remained the all-time lead scorer in AFL. Later the team was enriched by more stars as Larry Eisenhauer, middle linebacker Nick Buoniconti Hall of Famer), fullback Jim Nance. For more information, visit Wager Bop.

Patriots also have the history of making playoffs in 14 out of 17 seasons when Belichick had been their coach, missing only 2000, 2002, and 2008 seasons. They also faced the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl XLIX back in 2015 and defeated them by 28-24. Patriots also had a marvelous win over Atlanta Falcons 34-28 at Super Bowl LI.
