West Ham defender Declan Rice is reportedly ready to switch international allegiance to England after a meeting with Gareth Southgate. Reports in Ireland claim he has turned his back on the Irish and instead opted to throw his hat in with England after a meeting with Southgate, where he was assured he would become a key member of the squad, presumably as long as he continued his progression.
London-born Rice has made three non-competitive appearances for the Republic of Ireland but had asked for more time to consider his future with their boss Martin O’Neill optimistic of a decision before Christmas, but following a second meeting with Southgate, the 19-year-old appears to have chosen England.
Meanwhile the Hammers are continuing try to persuade the youngster to put pen to paper on a new deal at the London Stadium.
