Saimon Msuva and Mbwana Samatha were on target as the Taifa Stars picked their first win in the qualifying series at the National Stadium Dar Es Salaam.

It was a sweet revenge for the East Africans who fell to a 3-0 defeat to Cape Verde in the first leg in Praia.

Uganda top Group L with 10 points, Tanzania are second with five points, Cape Verde sit in third position with four points, while Lesotho are bottom with two points.

“It was frustrating losing in Cape Verde, so we had to talk and bolster our morale ahead of the game. We had to see the possibility of winning and it was not easy,” Amuneke told reporters after the game.

“We have a good team, but what we needed is to push through our abilities. We managed it at home, we created chances and scored.

“We will fight to see the chance to win the last two games so that we can qualify.”

Tanzania’s next 2019 AFCON qualifying game is against Lesotho on November 18 in Maseru before rounding off their campaign with a home fixture against the Cranes of Uganda on March 22nd, 2019.
