Ride hailing app Taxify has launched its services simultaneously in Ibadan and Owerri as it embarks on an expansion course across major Nigerian cities. This comes on the back of completing an investment round of $175 million earlier this year, and the company’s intention to use this investment to expand its services worldwide – particularly across Africa
The Taxify app connects passengers and drivers at the touch of a button, in real time via their smartphone. With this move, Ibadan and Owerri have joined the growing list of Taxify cities – becoming the third and forth cities to be launched in Nigeria, after Lagos and Abuja.
To celebrate its launch in both cities, the company says it will be offering a 20% discount on all rides for the month of October 2018, and passengers can enjoy a free first ride with the promo codes HELLOIBADAN and HIOWERRI when they use the card payment option on the Taxify app.
“After our successful launches in Nigeria’s main centers, expanding to the cities of Ibadan and Owerri is a natural next step for Taxify,” says Uche Okafor, Taxify’s Country Manager for Nigeria.
“Taxify is part of a broader evolution in transportation that is changing the way we move and shaping the future of commuting in cities across the world. We’re looking forward to introducing these cities to safe, reliable and affordable ride-hailing services on demand and creating an avenue for people who own or have access to cars to earn and be their own bosses thus growing the local economy”
