Francis Uzoho has been nominated alongside four other players for Most Valuable Player of match day 10 in the La Liga 2 division following his heroics for Elche last Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Super Eagles goalkeeper, Uzoho is up against Real Oviedo’s Saúl Berjón, Juan Domínguez from CF Reus Deportiu and Las Palmas striker, Sergio Araujo according to the official website of the Spanish La Liga, www.laliga.es.
The 19 year old Nigerian international, Uzoho kept a clean sheet on his debut for Elche and made four outstanding saves last Friday as his team recorded a 2-0 win over Malaga.
Lozano Neyder put the home side in front in the 36th minute before Martinez Borja scored a 63rd minute goal to close the encounter.
The victory was the second win of the season for Elche who 17th in the La Liga 2 table with 11 points from ten games.
Uzoho joined Elche on a season loan deal from Deportivo de la Coruna, a Segunda division side where he made his breakthrough last season in goal for playing for the youth side.
Uzoho’s performance may earn him another starting role when Elche host Real Zaragoza in their next game on Sunday.
Recall that the former Aspire academy shot-stopper was in goal for Nigeria who defeated Libya over two legs in a 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier.
