A 6-year-old boy identified as Emmanuel, who was suspected to be a victim of child abuse and maltreatment, has been hospitalised in Ondo state.
The young boy landed at the intensive care unit of State Specialist hospital in Akure a few days ago with his belly severely pierced and intestines reaped out.
Though, according to his guardians, Monday and Angela, a couple at Ibukunoluwa area of Oke-Ijebu, Akure in Ondo state; they claimed the little boy was a victim of a terrible domestic accident, but Mercy-Babs news gathered that the little boy sustained the life-and-death wound as a result of abuse and maltreatment.
Also, there were obvious indications that Emmanuel was severely whipped as blood-laden marks overwhelmed his body.
“He terribly fell down from somewhere and his belly got torn”, the couple claimed.
Confirming the incident, officials from the children affairs department of the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs said the matter had been referred to the police for investigation.
