Beautiful white teeth always give that extra sparkle to your smile. That’s why we keep up with those exhausting dentist appointments, using several expensive whitening toothpastes, and even home remedies!
Even after everything you’ve done, you still don’t have white teeth? Don’t give up till you’ve tried activated charcoal!
Using charcoal might seem counterproductive but we assure you that it is better than those “recommended” hydrogen peroxide treatments that irritate the gum and cause sensitivity. Read on to learn all about activated charcoal for teeth whitening.
Activated charcoal is a thinly pulverized black powder made from coconut shells, bone char, olive pits, coal, and sawdust. It is processed with extreme heat, which makes it activated. This process changes its structure, making it more absorbent than ordinary charcoal.
Activated charcoal contains millions of tiny pores that get rid of poisons, chemicals, and even intestinal gas. It is effective for poison control in case of accidental overdose. For teeth whitening, activated charcoal pulls out stains, bacteria and toxins from the mouth.
So let’s get started:
Get a glass of water, two old toothbrushes, and some activated charcoal
Directions
1. Dampen your toothbrush
2. Place a wipe or tissue on a clean surface, place you brush on it (for convenient cleaning later)
3. Gently pour some activated charcoal on your brush
4. Start brushing. The powder will mix with your saliva to make a paste
5. Brush for 5 minutes in small circles and rinse well with water. Use water and your toothbrush to brush your tongue to avoid black stains. If there is still charcoal residue on your teeth use a second toothbrush to brush and rinse
6. Use wipes to clean powder off your sink
Caution
As much as activated charcoal works wonders on the teeth, it shouldn’t be abused. Discretion is advised when using activated charcoal. Use this substance with extreme care. Don’t brush vigorously. Overuse of activated charcoal leads to teeth erosion which is a greater problem. You can use the activated charcoal for teeth whitening treatment for three days in a row and wait three months before the next application.
