Nigeria forward Samuel Chukwueze scored his first senior career goal for Villarreal in Thursday’s first leg round of 32 Copa Del Rey clash against Almeria which ended 3-3 at the Mediterraneo stadium reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The 19-year-old made it 3-1 in the 83rd minute for the Yellow Submarine in his first start of the competition this season having made three UEFA Europa League appearances.
The former U17 and U20 winger, Chukwueze raced past the Almeria defence before finishing off from close range for his first goal of the season.
Chema Nunez scored a 52nd-minute penalty to hand the hosts, Almeria the lead but Santi Cazorla restored parity in the 68th minute before an own goal from Francisco Callejon made it 2-1 for Villarreal.
Chukwueze made it 3-1 in the 83rd minute before Sekou Gassama struck twice in the final four minutes to hand his side a hard-fought draw ahead of the second leg.
Chukwueze who has been called up for the Super Eagles 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against South Africa and the friendly game against Uganda later this month could make his La Liga debut for Villarreal against Levante on Saturday following his performance.
He will become the fifth youngest Nigerian to debut in the Spanish topflight division behind Sunday Stephen, Isaac Success, Uche Agbo and Francis Uzoho if he gets some minutes.
