Diego Maradona left a reporter hanging in a horribly awkward post-match interview. The Argentine legend, 58, had just led his Sinaloa Doradas team to the final of the Ascenso MX – the Mexican second tier.
Amidst all the partying and celebrations, Maradona took a little time to fulfil his professional duties.
When pulled aside by ESPN, he was asked what he thought of his new life in Mexico – and the standard of football.
Maradona was asked: “What do you think about the level of the MX league?”
However, the Argentina legend fails to offer up an answer, instead simply mumbling and considering his answer for longer than anyone has probably ever done in a post-game interview.
It was so awkward the interviewer had no idea where to look and fans couldn’t help have a laugh about it…
Since taking over in Mexico, Maradona has won eight of his 13 matches, losing just two – culminating in the 2-1 aggregate win over Juarez yesterday.
Sinaloa Doradas will now take part in the two-legged final with Maradona getting the chance to get his hands on some silverware.
