Schools are already closed and you will have the kids around until January.

It’s quite a long period and the first thing that comes to your mind is having them visit their grandparents back in the village. While that’s not really a bad thing, you might want to do things differently.

Like, why not let the kids stick around and come up with fun things you can have them do or do it together as a family when not working?

1. Volunteer

Teach your kids the importance of lending a helping hand at a young age. On a weekend, visit a children’s home or a home for the elderly and offer your free services. You could take with you some clothes and foods and also help in cleaning. It’s fun and you also feel great knowing that you’ve impacted someone’s life.

Take a leave from work and go camping with your kids. It doesn’t have be a very expensive affair. You can camp for four days or a week and still have so much fun as a family. Plus, it’s a chance for you to bond with the kids.

3. Road trips

For instance, you can decide to be going for road trips every Saturday. You just need to pack snacks with you and ask your kids where they would want to go every Saturday.

5. Go to the library together

It’s holiday yes, but January is not so far. Let your kids have fun but they should not forget about books completely. So that it doesn’t feel like school work, go with them to the community library and let them read their favorite books or magazine.

6. Exercise together

You probably go to the gym every day and leave your kids at home. But they need to know the importance of keeping fit and this can best be done by taking them along. Wake them up early at least once in a week and let them join you for the morning run.

7. Try out a new recipe

Your kids have probably been requesting you to make them something new but you don’t know how to go about it. Well, you can involve them and together follow the recipe and see how it comes out.

8. Learn a new skill

You can also have your kids learn some new skills or learn it together. You can learn how to make mats, throw pillows, bake and finally work on one thing together and see the results.
